Will be watching it. An interesting failure, though I enjoy it. I believe originally it was made as the support feature for Hammer's The Evil of Frankenstein. Cushing's acting here when he's with Barbara Shelley is superb, the banked-down romantic feelings for her, and it's nice to see Cushing and Lee swap their usual good guy/bad guy roles

"Curse of the Mummy's Tomb" was the support feature to "The Gorgon". "Nightmare" was the support feature to "Evil of Frankenstein".

A great film - with the usual great cast and production values that those era Hammer Films had. Just a shame about the snake effect

    SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Barbara Shelley says in an interview that she wanted to play the Gorgon part and would have happily had real snakes on her head - as she has no fear of them. But unfortunately they went with a different actress so that people wouldn't know who the Gorgon was; and also went with their mechanical snakes

Interesting aside to this on BBC4 the other night; a hypothesis that the Gorgon myth is an explanation for the huge fossilised mammals that were eroding out of the rocks as these beasts were turned into stone. Similarly, the fossilised elephant skulls with a huge central hole for the trunk that looked like an eye socket explained The Cyclops.
Another aside is the Horror Channel are running Hammer Films at the moment. Saw The Devil Rides Out the other night.

You also ocasionally get human misbirths with a central eye.

I've always liked Richard Pasco and to be fair I thought the sets were pretty good for their age
