I've not been to Chesterfield for a while but I don't think such a fine sounding establishment exists anymore

Haven't a clue about the film but I'll go for Just William in the hope that Baz will appear to dispense clarity.

A chum who comes from Chesterfield gets terribly excited because this film appears to be largely set at his school (though sadly it was filmed in Berkhampsted). No Baz, alas. Look - metaphor alert!

I can find little fault with either of these suggestions...

I'm sure that's Ivor Novello. Must be Downhill then, but isn't that a lost Hitchcock?

It's available on Network dvd. And seen by me at the NFT last week, accompanied by a vocal orchestra of human catstranglers who stood in front of the screen and made my ears bleed Fortunately the dvd has a score that won't fill you with murderous rage against all humanity

Just checked and there's a cheaper French version with Waltzes from Vienna thrown in

And the website's synopsis of Downhill is wrong too - Roddy isn't accused of theft but of getting the young lady in Ye Olde Bunne Shoppe pregnant

Thanks for clearing that up Captain. The picture of Novello with a tear in his jacket, is he on a ship? That was what made me think of Rich and Strange.
