I went to the Walter Reade last week to see the "Digital Cinema Picture" release of Barry Lyndon. Not exactly sure what a DCP actually is, but can't say that I was particularly impressed, it seemed to stress the grain and look a bit shadowy to me. I don't know if I'm fooling myself, but I think I've seen a much better print at the same cinema. Having said that, I'll watch Barry Lyndon any which way I can, for me Kubrick's finest picture !

You should see it in it's latest home manifestation on Blu-ray - it's exquisite - a superb transfer. Another great reason to consider BD.

Basically means that what you were seeing was coming off a hard drive into a digital projector and not a film print-I think?
