Can anyone identify these obscure filming locations from TheAvengers episode Wish You Were Here?

Unfortunately there is not much to go on.

Mark - Unfortunately no luck. As you suggested I have searched the area from South Mimms up to Shenley and found nothing that matches up.

I've looked at Mimms Lane, Rectory Lane, Earls Lane and Packhorse Lane.

I agree that the countryside around here looks right.

With buildings on either side of the road, this location is distingtive.

Does anyone have any further suggestions?

That road is definately not the backlot to Elstree Studios. I've seen various aerial shots of the studios during the sixties and been on the baclot there a couple of times. As suggested it looks more like the Shenley, Ridge. South Mimms area.

" The scene in which Steed arrives at the site of a hit-and-run accident to find that the victim is Mr Maple (John Cabazon) was filmed on the backlot at APB Elstree studios on Shenley Road in Borehamwood,Hertsmere,Hertfordshire, close to the southern perimeter where a distinctive line of poplar trees marked the boundary of the studio site. this was in almost exactly the same spot where The Happy Valley Pet Cemetery was created for The 50,000 Breakfast"

    Any more helpful ???

They may well have shot the closer stuff on the backlot but that is not what appears in the photo here.
