It's a long shot, but I saw a movie on TV back in the 80s, and trying to find out the title is driving me crazy! There were 2 women, one was a murderess. They may have been sisters, not sure. At any rate, at the end, the innocent woman is going to be hanged to protect the guilty. Does this ring a bell for anyone? It could have been 1940s or 50s.
    Many thanks!

I haven't seen this movie, but with a little bit searching...
... I have found these three movies with a similar plot:
The Woman Condemned (1934) - IMDb
    Forgotten Girls (1940) - IMDb
The Dark Mirror (1946) - IMDb

There is also Why Must I Die?

But I doubt that is it.

Thank you for the suggestions! I have The Dark Mirror (great noir), and Why Must I Die? is American, and I think the execution method is the "chair". I'll research the other two.

Thanks! I have some of them, and after researching these, I'm looking into Thunder on the Hill. It sounds like a strong possibility.

Thunder on the Hill wasn't it! But an excellent movie regardless. The search goes on! I wonder if it was a TV episode I saw years ago??

The Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode, The Older Sister, has some of this.

I have found one more movie with a similar plot:
The Blue Gardenia (1953) - IMDb

My suggestion is Lady in the Death House (1944) to be the next movie you need to watch, Steve.

Thanks! I have a brother named Greg, thought he had messaged me, but he's in Canada. I have both of these films. Lady in the Death House really stretches one's credibility! An innocent woman is going to the electric chair (but is rescued literally at the last second). But her boyfriend is the executioner, and HE'S supposed to be the one to hit the switch!? LOL
