I can't find anything to say 100% it is - but so far I'm 70% of the way there.

Identified by Rick C as Collin's Music Hall, 11 Islington Green.

    Thanks Rick!

One alternative venue is that featured also on Arthur Lloyd, the former Metropolitan Theatre of Variety on Edgware Road. This was the venue of two other feature films, Norman Wisdom's 'Trouble in Store' and the Dirk Bogarde police drama 'The Blue Lamp'.

    http://www.arthurlloyd.co.uk/Metropolitan.htm

The Metropolitan was brought down in 1963, but stock footage could have been done anytime.

If this is the case, maybe Collins Music Hall was just used for the frontage?

The interior of the Palladium shows a far too wide balcony construction to me

    Two other Victorian theatres:-

Hitchcock's 1956 Man who Knew too Much (Albert Hall, so not here)
The Kenneth More version of Thirty-Nine Steps. No listing on IMDB for this.

**ps Mr. Mckay, who's the NICK c listed as the spotter on the Avengerland site?

Oops! Sorry Rick - send me a p.m. if you'd rather I use another credit other than 'Rick C'. I had a look at the photos of the interior of Collins' and they match perfectly the plaster work and fittings for the interior footage.

If you look at what the people are wearing in the M.O.T.W. photos you can tell there was not much in the way of heating at the venue.

From the incomparable site of the collection belonging to Charles Cushman, here's the Hippodrome in its 'Talk of the Town' persona.

The photo is from 1961, but I would imagine the interior would have more modernised than what we see in our screen grabs.

In agreement with that. The Collins' internal photo fits the Randall footage, the Metropolitan inside doesn't.
