It that 'Mr.Skeffington' Windyridge? Gets us nowhere near the burning issue of the original posting but gets the Bette Davis thread up to speed anyway

There is also something like that going on in The Letter.

British movies from the thirties on American televison back in the sixties tended to be Alfred Hitchcock or Alexander Korda productions.

If this is a genuine question, you could help out here by saying what it is about Went the Day Well? that means you know it isn't the right answer.

What 1930s style dresses are you talking about? Can you Google up a picture of something similar? In the meantime, I'll take `Rebecca' in this vast, insane sweepstake.

For some reason I thought of Celia Johnson and Robert Newton in "This Happy Breed" - all sorts happened around tables in that one !

The Admirable Crichton comes to mind as its 1957. Any indication of this film being a comedy?

Like this one. Scroll about 2/3 way down to the pix of Groucho and Margaret Dumont.

This is a genuine question, but admittedly one that doesn't give you much to go on. I watched Went the Day Well? recently. It's not what I remember.

Also, in answer to 'Dean Williams' post on page one, my impression was that it was a drama, not a comedy.
