... but nothing rings a bell on his imdb page (tho I only skimmed it). Science fantasy movie, in which a handsome time or space traveller dressed in velvet with black nail varnish, has a fridge full of chocolate biscuits. A popular film for young modernes in the late 70s / early 80s. I think I saw it in about 1981, and it was possibly ten years old, possibly less. the actor ad actress were both well known, I think. Her name is on the tip of my tongue ... but at my age that's out of reach.

It is The Final Programme.Based on a Michael Moorcock book.Jon Finch is the space traveller wearing velvet and black nail varnish.(I just checked)

It is a 1973 film and the woman you are thinking of could be Julie Ege

Of COURSE!!!! Michael Moorcock!!! How could I have forgotten?? Thanks so much, Rose Ellen. And happy holidays.

Having written this five minutes ago, I've looked in all the usual places and it seems it's a hard-to-find/unfindable on DVD. Is that wrong (I mean factually, not morally)? Anybody know where it's available cheaply?

It's on youtube but unfortunately there's a voice over the top of the soundtrack translating to Russian.

The late Jon Finch's greatest role- as Jerry Cornelius, dandy, androgyne, physicist, womaniser, chocolate biscuit addict and eventual Messiah. Something I still aspire to!! Sadly, I'm still stuck in 'fat git from the Home Counties with a beard who promotes rock concerts' (me, not the beard) mode at the moment.
