I always believed that for a person to be eligible to appear on a UK stamp that they had to be dead, except for any members of the Royal family. It seems that with the issue of these forthcoming Dr Who stamps, that I've always believed wrong. Or, is it because the actors are in their character part that they are made an exception?

I had thought this too but apparently it hasn't been the case since c2005. In fact, David Tennant has already appeared on a stamp
