Back in 2005 I wrote on the 'Film Score Monthly' board my first of a few experiences I had of visiting Anvil at Denham in 1970. I attended the scoring sessions of "Ryan's Daughter". I reproduced it elsewhere on this site, here is the link:

Thank you for that, Stephen. I am always interested in sound, music and dubbing in films and quirky Ken Cameron is so interesting to find out more about. I know he was very well regarded.

I remember reading Gerard Schurmann's account about the debacle over the music recording of another David Lean film, Lawrence of Arabia, involving a very unhappy Adrian Boult and the subsequent conducting mayhem.

Apparently Boult couldn't adapt to film procedures such as screen wipes etc., he suggested Jarre conduct and he did so brilliantly.
"Lawrence" was recorded on Stage L at Shepperton, music mixer was Red Law I believe.
Gerard Schurmann, who is a close friend of mine, did at least two of his scores at Denham, this is before Anvil arrived, they were "Konga"(Herman Cohen-1961) and "Dr. Syn" (Disney-1963) Ted Drake was the music mixer.
Gerard worked at Anvil, with Ken Cameron, at Beaconsfield Studios, on "Camp on Blood Island" (Hammer-1957) which was conducted by John Hollingsworth.

Interesting, thanks, Stephen. I do like Gerard's music and have a CD of it.

I love these! Please keep posting them.

I invariably end up in a Google loop of 'whatever happened to...'

Also it's a pleasure to read a publication with such excellent journalism, a skill rapidly being lost.

These are wonderful - memories of moving to London in 1966 and all the then new releases.
Please continue posting these marvellous trips down memory lane.
    It really is appreciated.

    Stepehn,
These are brilliant. Did you scan all these from your own copies ( I see your name on the top of one) or are they available to browse online?

Hi Edward, yes, these are all scans from my own copies. I think that at the moment they are only available for viewing on this site, which was my plan, unless somebody has found a way to put it elsewhere.

    Hi Stephen,
I guess you realise after more than one and a half thousand views, that people are fascinated by these posts, but I just wanted to say I most certainly am.
1966 & 67 was such an interesting time for British film. A mini boom.
