Euryale just beat me to it with the Veronica Gardiner article. I found that about 10 minutes ago via the Google News Archive (to omit the blue and yellow highlights, make a note of the page number and select 'Browse this newspaper'). I remember Goal!, the film of the 1966 World Cup, but must have forgotten the narrator was Nigel Patrick. The date of the premiere will be of great interest to wearysloth as well as myself as it's not given at IMDb.

From the Mirror archives, all I could find was this report on the older Valerie's shocking behaviour in front of Royalty:

    Daily Mirror, 29th April 1985

    TOPLESS GUEST SHOCKS ANGUS

A WOMAN guest stunned Princess Alexandra's husband Angus Ogilvy when she stripped to the waist at a reception last night. Then, shouting and struggling, 44-year-old ex-model Veronica Gardiner was bundled out of London's Mirabelle Club as Mr. Ogilvy and film stars looked on.

Mr. Ogilvy was among guests paying tribute to actress Jennifer Kendall - sister of Felicity - who died of cancer last year.

According to the Rick C archive, 'Goal-World Cup 1966' had its premiere-on Wednesday 5 Oct 1966-at the Columbia Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, London. Its run period was from that date until 16 November at the same venue.

How odd, because this is from a publication called Status which I think was an American magazine, dated 1965:

"In London, the Jack Heinz's had a 58th Variety at their annual dance for la crme de la crme. It was an additionally spicy variety, too, in the form of Miss Veronica Gardiner, a sometime actress who came uninvited and literally stole the show. When Miss Gardiner removed her silver stole, she revealed a topless dress before an elegant audience, which included: Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon; Princess Alexandra, her husband, Angus Ogilvy, and her mother, Marina, Duchess of Kent; the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, Jock Whitney and U.S. Ambassador and Mrs. Bruce; richest" oil millionaire J. Paul Getty; the Douglas Fairbanks; and beauteous Fiona Thyssen......."

It seems that in 1985 Veronica decided to carry out a 20th anniversary re-enactment of her caper!

She has an entry in the Spotlight directory for 1966:

Can't find anything about that film The Find.

    Thanks cornershop15 and Euryale.

Fascinating information from the past. Perhaps even more interesting is that Veronica Gardiner’s listing in spotlight shows that she was also a extra on The Avengers.

Yes Paul, David Prowse as he was billed back then did indeed play the Frankenstein Monster, four years before his first outing as the creature for Hammer Films in The Horror of Frankenstein.

Yes he did. He was originally to have played a different part but in a late change (one of many) played the Frankenstein monster in the finale.

Thanks Guys, I think I'll order the Blu ray set of the Bonds, and have a Bondathon over the next few weeks... It's a franchise I like, but have not seen any of the Connery's, Moore's, etc in years...

This Border Guard who has no lines of dialogue in the film could be extra Ken Hutchins (as pointed out on another thread by Gerald Lovell), but can anyone confirm that.

On the image below its the guy nearest the camera that Im wanting a name for. Im sure Ive seen him in sixties film series like Man in a Suitcase and/or The Saint, where he usually played a foreign military officer, possibly even an American soldier.

Sources also indicate that Antonia Ellis (better known for her time on Gerry Andersons UFO) appears in the film, but unfortunately I cannot see her. Can anyone else locate her in the film?

Further to this, one of the credited production managers on the film Barrie Melrose is thought to have made what I can only assume to be a cameo appearance in Casino Royale. However, there appears to be no images on him on the net, so looking for him in the film is no good as there is nothing to compare to unless you know different?

Sorry I can't help with any of those questions, Mikey. I'd be interested to see this film again, although it was never a favourite.

Do you remember that scene in Sunday, Bloody Sunday where Caroline Blakiston decides to take her top off in front of all the party guests (including my beloved Petra Markham, apparently) and one man says "Here come those tired old tits again"? I'd like to think Angus Ogilvy said much the same to his wife, having seen them the umpteenth time! It can't be coincidence. Maybe Veronica was a serial stripper in front of Royalty? Denise Van Outen 'flashed her boobs' to Prince Charles once so it's not that uncommon.

Spotlight volumes from around the Mid 1960s to the Early 70s are top of my wish list, I know they'd be a great help in identifying my 'dolly bird' subjects and various other extras. The Daily Mirror and Express have become an essential source, however. This article is from the former's 6th October 1966 edition - the same date as the one featuring Veronica Gardiner, oddly enough. We have another uncredited actress in Casino Royale to add to the list - Valerie Stanton:

STEALING the limelight is a terribly difficult business for young actres-
ses these days. Take Valerie Stanton, 22, of Kensington, for example.

She swings (as you can see), wears her dresses short, worries needlessly about her weight, and
acts in Casino Royale. But so does simply everyone. Still, she looks very well on it. And that helps.

For goodness sake! Do you recall seeing her in the film, Mikey? Perhaps she's in one of your captures?

Miss Stanton's hairstyles vary in these images:

A big thank you for this info cornershop, though I had already come across Valerie Stanton as an extra and the info came from Daily Mirror (dated 14.10.66), which as you say is a great source for this kind of information. I've checked through both the Mirror and the Daily Express.

I cannot see her in the gym scene with Terence Cooper and Daliah Lavi, so I suppose the actual casino scenes are favourate.

But then again she could be there as one of the guard girls, at the back and difficult to regcognise.

Can anyone identify the guy with the gun about to take a shot at Sir James Bond (David Niven) at the beginning of the final casino sequence in Casino Royale?

He turned up again later during the sequence, being punched by Terence Cooper and then kicked by William Holden, suggesting that he was stuntman.

It's Joe Powell in pics 1 and 3. I don't think it's him in 2. 2 looks more like Terry Plummer.

    Gerald

Thanks for giving this the once over. Yes, its so obviously Joe Powell, he does turn up a lot in this movie.

Looking at number two, I agree the hairstyle is slightly different and I do know that Terry Plummer did some stunts on this film.

Comparing these two images, yes, I think its beyond doubt its Terry Plummer taking the punch from Terence Cooper.

Another selection of images from Casino Royale. Can anyone confirm the first photograph as stuntman Nosher Powell?

Who's the lady driving the E-Type Jaguar?

The next two are Vesper's assistants. The second one says ITC film series to me, maybe The Saint and/or The Persuaders? Any ideas who there are?

Finally, who is playing the blonde guy at the bar with George Raft?

Nosher had a bit more in the earlobe department, I think. I'm probably wrong, but could the blonde guy with Raft be Harry Van Engel?

Don't recognize the blond guy but definitely NOT Harry Van Engel. I asked Harry specifically if he worked on Casino Royale, as so many people did, but he said no, he missed out on it.
