    Not much to go on I'm afraid. I remember watching what I believe was a TV preview of a just released movie. It was likely in the 60s.

    Some prisoners of war were throwing a basketball at the basket and they were to be shot by their captors if they failed to get the ball in the hoop.

    The Mayans sometimes sacrificed the losers of the ballgame. They did not have guns however. Seems a little severe, even by today's standards.

    Certainly severe, yes. I was hoping that would make it more likely to have been recognised.

    Maybe it was an original idea for Sporting Superstars but they went for points instead.
