May I just add I had a recording of the programme on a VHS tape, but alas it was thrown out accidentally in 2005 - not by me may I add.
I am hoping someone has a a recording of a TV documentary I watched circa 1990/1991.
It was about a photograph that had emerged reportedly showing three American airmen who'd been 'lost in Vietnam' for over 20 years.
It was a black and white photograph that showed the three men holding up a piece of what could have been cardboard or slate, on which was written a recent date and I think the men's names. I think! My memory isn't exact but close.
The programme followed the daughter of one of the missing airmen, an attractive blonde woman in her mid to late 30s. She went to Congress to try and get to the bottom of this story. I think it was the CIA who found out the photograph was in fact a picture of three Russian farmers, circa 1920.
In disbelief the woman was eventually led to a Russian newspaper - I think called 'Vavodska' (sorry for the misspelling).
The picture editor told her he had the original negative of the photograph of the three Russian farmers. He told her the negative was real and not a CIA 'cover up' as she believed it was.
The programme ended with the woman in shock but still not satisfied with what she had been told.
I'D LOVE IT! If someone has this documentary or at least remembers seeing it at the time.
Thanks.![]()

Presumably this photo? It first came to light in 1991, ands in June 1992 C4's Dispatches did a programme on MIAs called "Missing Inaction" [sic], which I have on tape, but I'd need to check if it's the one you want.
