Sounds like Scars Of Dracula (1970)
This was a colour film , probably made in the 60's and set in an English village. A man arrives in the village looking for his brother who went missing a while before. He is made welcome at a large red brick house although he is later shot at in the grounds, possibly owned by Christopher Lee who collects antiques which are kept in glass display cabinets and attends a party which turns out to be linked to a local Coven . The film ends with a fire and the house owner is burnt to death, despite the local Fire brigades best efforts. Any ideas ?.
I hate to admit that I probably have a copy of the DVD, but simply can't remember it's title.
Sounds like Scars Of Dracula (1970)
If you hadn't said colour I'd have gone for City Of The Dead (Horror Hotel).
Mark Eden of Crossroads fame is the guy. Christoper Lee owns the house. It was released on an old DVD but is a pretty poor film.
Allegedly, Boris Karloff's night time shoot in the grounds of Grim's Dyke House gave him the pneumonia that finally finished him off. A green Barbara Steele and a dusty Michael Gough also put in appearances.
I think I remember seeing this film, Boris's character had a collection of instruments of torture, but felt insulted when Mark Eden's character referred to the whiskey he was given as 'good stuff'.
For location bods the white regency looking house is in Blanche lane, South Mimms, it was once a shop, in the fire sequence near the end London Transport AEC Regent buses can be seen at the Blanche lane terminus, the former route 242 to Chingford started there.
I have to say I agree with Paul, I quite like this film. It may not be to everyone's taste, but for us die-hard Horror fans it's jollyfine... Karloff, Lee, Steel, Gough, what's not to like.![]()
Karloff died on 2 February 1969 whereas Curse of the Crimson Altar finished shooting in late March 1968. Karloff was still alive when Crimson Altar went on general release in the UK at the end of 1968.
As John H points out, Jack Hill filmed Karloff in Hollywood for 4 different roles in 4 Mexican horror films between March 1968 and his death.

The bit that gets me is Boris is nearly set alight by a firework, and he looks non too pleased. Keep an eye out for it next time anyone watches it.
How can anyone miss mentioning the gorgeous Virginia Wetherell?
Watching this film last year on BBC2, I wondered why Mark Eden never put himself forward for Bond in the late 60's/early 70's.
Right age, build, looks, height. Fine actor.
I have the dvd now but for many years I also had the super 8mm abridged version and trailer. The film ran for about 36 minutes and told the story effectively.
I think the German DVD may have the super 8mm version as an extra.
The white house owned by Boris Karloff's character in the film is Heathbourne Lodge, Heathbourne Road, Bushey Heath.
