Please name a film that I believe used to be shown on TV. It was black and white, probably 1950s and involved a young woman who claimed she had been held captive in a house. I don't think she was harmed or threatened. I think it involved a trial in court and her evidence included seeing a bus passing by which she could see over a high hedge.

It's been a long time since I saw it but is it THE FRANCHISE AFFAIR?

Yes asiamiles, that's it! Thank you for solving this query at last. I remembered the title was something like 'The Paradine Case' , well a little like it anyway. I've just seen a brief synopsis on imdb saying the girl was covered in bruises so she was harmed a little bit. I really would like to see this film again. There must be hundreds of really good old films which don't get a showing any longer. Thank you again and congratulations on your great knowledge.

Oh yes, that's correct. I've just watched Part One.
Many thanks for directing me to Part Two.
I've also reserved the book from my local library.
