There will no doubt be a flurry of ironic jokes using the title of his signature hit "Forever and ever" but I liked Roussos as a singer.
On a less serious note when I hear him mentioned anywhere I also think of the monstrous Alison Steadman character from "Abigail's Party", where she extolls his virtues as she careers into chaos.
This was always one of my favourites from him
    RIP Demis.

Sad news for his many fans, as well as friends and family. I remember Demis' success as a solo singer, particularly with Forever and Ever (No. 1 in 1976) and Happy to Be On An Island in the Sun (#5). But it wasn't until years later that I learned he had a minor hit in the 1960s, as part of a group called Aphrodite's Child, also featuring Vangelis. That was during an edition of Radio 2's Sounds of the Sixties, then presented by Keith Fordyce. Rather an appropriate song now that we've lost him:

I saw him in Norwich about 15 years ago .... he was superb. He came into the same pub as us afterwards and my friend Angie received a bug hug from Demis. Seemed like a nice man. RIP Demis.
