I received my new DVD release of Happy is the Bride today and its a beautifully clear transfer in 1.66:1 wide screen with excellent sound. There are two extras, an original cinema trailer that cuts off abruptly before the end and has a loss of sound in parts. You can hear the optical soundtrack going through, but with no sound, which is odd. Maybe this was the only trailer Network could find. There is also PDF file of the original exhibitors campaign book, but like a lot of these campaign books on Network DVDs, there is something odd about it. It advises the cinema manager to book their 16mm trailer for the filmbut cinemas only ran 35mm trailers. So where did that come from? Ive seen a lot of these campaign books in my time and the trailers advertised in them are always regular 35mm ones, so a bit of a mystery there. Another odd thing. If you press play on the menu, the film starts without the BBFC certificate. But if you press backwards on your Laptop or television, then press play again, the BBFC certificate appears. This means that when you press play on the menu to start the film, for some reason it skips forward about eight seconds and misses out the BBFC certificate, which you can only see if you go through the procedure described above. When you do, you get this:
