A great poster, Joe. It's a hell of a long time since I've seen that quad, and only have the poster in the ABC Film Review. However, I do have the complete Front-of-House set for the film and will scan a few stills from it and upload them tomorrow. Amazing to think how different things were in 1962, when you could be hanged for murder.
It hasn't been on television for years, Joe, and the only DVD of it available is on a Donald Sinden box set.
The last executions took place on 13 August 1964.
There must have been quite a few innocent people hanged before the death penalty was abolished, convicted on circumstantial evidence as in this film. Timothy Evans was a famous example.
As far as real-life characters in the contemporary capital punishment system also portrayed on screen, is Ruth Ellis in Dance with a Stranger (dir.Mike Newell, 1985).
The last time I remember seeing it, it was on Channel 4.
The only channel now likely to show them is BBC2 or ,Film4
Did you play this in the cinema before the film started?
No, orpheum2. We didn't have the single and there would have been little point as the film opened up on the song being sung by Adam Faith over the opening titles. Some cinemas used to get the latest records free though from the local record shop in return for showing a slide on the screen in the interval saying something to the effect of "All records played in this cinema can be obtained from Joe Bloggs record shop in the High Street". I used to do that when I worked for a short time at the Essoldo Rio, Newcastle-under-Lyme, in late 1963 - early 1964 and I used to go to the nearby record shop (who's name I can't recall now) and bring back the latest hit singles, such as Geronimo by The Shadows; I Want to Hold Your Hand by The Beatles and Glad All Over by The Dave Clark Five.

I will never forget that at the Odeon Temple Fortune they would play Ron Goodwins The Laughing Sailor before putting the lights down opening the tabs up till the display of the censors certificate.I still have the 45 disc.
And here it is from early 1958.
