Just been to see this.Smith very good but I found it overlong and rather like an extended play for tv,not surprising bearing in mind the involvement of the BBC

The History Boys also seemed like an extended play but it grossed around $14 million. I read Alan Bennett's playscript and a few of his earlier plays and I've concluded that he writes witty lines but he isn't really interested in plot structure at all.

Nevertheless, I'll be seeing this movie. The other reason being that Maggie Smith hasn't had a proper starring role for so long.

I wonder why Alan Bennett split himself into two roles for the radio version?

I have to wait 3 months to see the film version.
