That's one single I haven't got, cassidy. But I will keep a look out for it. I've got a really smashing 8 x 10 press still of Francoise Prevost in Payroll on its way to me and it should be here by next week. I was considerably attracted to her at the time. When it arrives, I will scan it and upload it here, so watch this space.

Bigger than normal part for Barry Keegan as fated Bert and a great scene stealing role for Kenneth Griffiths as Monty.

Monty learned a bitter lesson that night. Don't get drunk and flash a big wad of fivers and tenners about in a pub. You're sure to get followed and mugged on the way home. I've got a few more stills from the film on their way to me from eBay sellers in America and France and they should be here in a week or so. One is a French Front-of-House still. It was retitled Les Gangsters in France and their Front-of-House set had different scenes to those on ours.

Great content DBF. I must get a copy of this soon. The much missed Tom Bell was born to play canny crooks!

Glad you like it, DeadlyStranger. I was very impressed with Payroll when I went to see it as a 14 year old in 1961. I thought it was a terrific film and it's just as dramatic and hard hitting now as it was 55 years ago. Yes, it's strange how some people look so right as baddies and some look so right as goodies. I mean, I can't imagine Cary Grant playing Jack the Ripper.

Thank you for the uploads. Brilliant! Some great publicity material there. Payroll is one of my favourite films. Such an enjoyable film. For me personally the acting honours in this film go to Francoise Prevost.

From my film poster collection here is the quad poster.

Great quad poster, Joe (I have one myself) and a great reminder of how exciting and wonderful it used to be to go to the pictures in those now very far off days. I must say, I didn't half fancy Francoise Prevost at the time and, in the vernacular of the time, she really sent me! There was a girl who lived just up the road from me in those days, Kathleen Rushton, who looked just like her, hairstyle and all (or maybe that should be Francoise Prevost looked just like Kathleen Rushton). However, I have no doubt that Francoise could have run rings around Kathleen in the acting stakes. I have four fabulous British stills of Francoise in the film on their way to me from America as I type this and they should be here in a week to ten days. I shall upload them here as soon as they arrive.

A photo taken of me about twenty years ago holding my Payroll quad poster. Oddly enough, mine has an 'A' cert on it and Joe's quad on post # 13 hasn't.

The robber's tactic of disguising their faces by putting a nylon stocking over seems to have fallen out of fashion nowadays. I wonder why.

I don't think they make nylon stockings these days, John. Probably because they don't make corsets for women any more with little clips on them to hold the stockings up.

The procedure was still active well into the 1970s -at least in British cinema terms
