Hi, on the talking pictures channel some four or five weeks ago there was an old black and white film, possibly 1940's, being screened late in the evening, I only managed to catch a few minutes, but I would be grateful if anyone knows the title, as it could be on again sometime, a mansion type house, and a woman, presumably Mistress of the house (looking, and dressed like Norma Desmond) is sitting on a throne type chair next to a man playing the Organ, there is a Servant in the house, a very, very short person, and his Mistress calls him 'Gargoyle', also just after that scene a youngish american couple arrive at the house and the Mistress slaps the woman on the face.

That was all I saw as I had to go out quickly, cheers.....

Was this a British or American movie? I see Wikipedia says it shows American movies in the twilight hours.

Looking at their current schedule, I'll assume it's British although a few B American movies apparently show up here and there.

Doesn't ring a bell with me. It sounded a bit like the Miriam Hopkins episode of Outer Limits, but they don't run that.

It's The Corpse Vanishes (1942) starring Bela Lugosi.

I have actually seen this film (bought for only 1.84 in a Network sale four years ago) but remember very little. Intrigued enough to watch it again over the weekend.

It's on YouTube. It's a Monogram so it is in the public domain. Pretty bad. I just watched it until the wife yells "Gargoyle" at the midget. Some of the other Lugosi Monograms are a little better than that.

By the way, the man playing the organ was Bela Lugosi.
