25 quid isn't too bad, considering! I might just have to...
Well, I did and the verdict is....

    Picture/Sound Quality: Perfectly watchable

    DVD Editing: Quite dodgy

Content: Excellent, really good to see it again after so many years. I don't think it's dated much because it's such a cracking good story.

    Ian Holm: Yum

    Value for Money: Yes

As people who have read the 2nd & 3rd Sampson trilogies know, it turns out that Fiona had fooled the Russians and was working for the British all along. Did anyone spot any clues in the GSM series that Fiona wasn't really a traitor? I understand that Granada were going the produce a tv version of the 2nd trilogy if GSM had been successful. It wasn't.

I just joined this forum. I have been desperately searching the last 10 or more years for GSM, calling around US and even contacts in UK, no one had seen it. Never thought about eBay. Until today and seeing your forum. But none available.

Does anyone have any leads on how to acquire another set, or how to bribe someone to make a copy?

Someone in Australia is selling a complete set on DVD. Recorded off official Australia video releases. Here's the site.

Click the tab 'Collectable Movies' and it's about three quarters of the way down.

    Hi, Terry,

I'm glad you posted this. I bought the set also, watched part of disc 1 and then promptly put the rest in a pile of "to see" and haven't gotten around to it. Best I do. I'll PM you on my disc 2. Anyone else had this problem?

Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase a DVD copy of the Granada series "Game, Set and Match" based on the Len Deighton novels, starring Ian Holm and Mel Martin.

    Hello dhaynes221,

Do a search in here for GSM, and you will find a recent thread giving you all the information you need.

Several people have mentioned Mel Martin's marvelous performance as Fiona in GSM. Can I suggest you get the LWT miniseries Love for Lydia in which she plays the central character. Another brilliant portrayal.

Hi, - I am looking for the series for years and would love to get / buy a copy (for a reasonable price) - I looked at ebay and there is nothing there at this time.

Sorry if this request has been posted earlier, but I couldn't quickly find a reference.

The Len Deighton spy novels were brilliantly interpreted for British TV (Granada), with Ian Holm playing Bernard Sampson. We saw the series on North American television 20 years ago -- and not a peep since.

No hint of a current DVD, dammit.

Shame, since I think this was the best portrayal of the end-of-cold-war era; shrinking defense budgets and former friends left vulnerable in Eastern Europe - very good drama.

Any remembrances will be happily discussed. Of course, if someone has the Granada tapes in storage ...
