She's in the chorus of [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Love-Judy-Original-London-Recording/dp/B0001BRQ96/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1227002698&sr=8-4"]Love from Judy[/ame], from 1952 though I doubt if you could pick her out. She did a lot of music hall stuff in her time including a stage show about Marie Lloyd ('Sing a Rude Song'). Didn't know about your album though - sounds fab.

Scenesixty, can you provide details which tracks Babs sings on? I'm trying to compile a discography of her recordings!
I can remember her in "Sparrows can't Sing", I have always believed that it may have been the last time she acted.

Brief Encounter, I hadn’t meant to be catty, but I suppose I was, I apologise, let me explain.
I’m not in any way connected with the acting industry. But I always think it sad when actors with talent, and Barbra Windsor showed talent in Sparrows, often never seem to have the opportunity to show it again.
If I cannot get promotion within a company, or feel that I could do better elsewhere, I can apply to another company and move. It appears, from my view of acting, that there is only “one company” and the ability of an actor to show his or hers ability depends on too many other people who appear to have their own agendas which may not include what is best for the aspiring and talented actor.
Mind you, in Sparrows, we had Joan Littlewood whose skills could produce pathos from her audience for a plank of wood!
It just that when I see Barbara Windsor on Eastenders, I remember what she was like 40 years ago and how she impressed a 20 year old.
yes Babs is a great actress of stage and screen
and has been in a host of hit movies and
TV shows
( lets not mention Twang ! )
Finally got round to doing this!!!Originally Posted by Brief Encounter

There's a story in today's newspaper that the Honours Committee are considering a DBE for Barbara Windsor. Hmmm.

Although good fun, I`m not sure if she is one of our best actresses and culturally beneficial in the acting proffession. Saying that, she did a lot of acting for Joan Littlewoods theatre which was pretty ground breaking stuff.

If one believes in the honours system, why isn't comedy and light entertainment (though her work on Eastenders has confirmed she's an excellent straight actress) quite as deserving as classical theatre? I bet Babs has brought pleasure to more people than many who have been honoured for services to the arts. Oo-er!![]()

I didn't mind old Parky receiving a 'gong' - but Wogan??Originally Posted by Ray
I thought he was a citizen of the Irish Republic and therefore not permitted to receive a knighthood.
Hasn't Ross just got an O.B.E. ?
