It is Holy Week and in this season, we are having our seasonal films in the States, which generally include Ten Commandments, Ben Hur and Jesus of Nazareth.
While Christian, I generally am not very fond of movies about Jesus Christ - certainly, this is the case because the films never do justice to the text.
Of the best of these films, Sir Lew Grade's presentation of Jesus of Nazareth, with Brit Robert Powell, is still the finest example, I think. While Zeffirelli changed some of the context for his version, it is otherwise a masterpiece (he is excellent at period pieces - Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet). If you are interested in an Easter movie, I recommend this one.
Happy Good Friday and Easter to those who celebrate. A great weekend to all others.

For a slightly different view on things, what about The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) or Life of Brian (1979) ?
Or the other "easter bunny" movie Harvey (1950) is always worth watching and has a good moral message.
