Anyone got decent copies of these 80s mini-series'?

    One summer 1983 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0252156/

    Diana 1984 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0136637/

Both are great, and they're getting scarce...

One of the best I've seen from the early 80s is "Chiefs" directed by Jerry London which was retitled for the UK market initially and called "Once Upon A Murder", then repeated a few years later under the proper name "Chiefs".

This is a tale of unsolved murders in a small hick southern states town in the US from 1917 up to the 1960s, and the generations of police chiefs who try and solve the mystery. Fascinating stuff and very edge-of-the-seat gripping.

Paul Sorvino is particularly good as the local redneck cop Sheriff Skeeter Willis, worth watching just for his performance.

    Charlton Heston .... Hugh Holmes

    Keith Carradine .... Foxy Funderburke

    Stephen Collins .... Billy Lee

    Brad Davis .... Sonny Butts

    Tess Harper .... Carrie Lee

    Paula Kelly .... Liz Watts

Wayne Rogers .... Will Henry Lee

Paul Sorvino .... Sheriff Skeeter Willis

    Victoria Tennant .... Trish Lee

Billy Dee Williams .... Tyler Watts (aka Joshua Cole)

    Lane Smith .... Hoss Spence

    Kaiulani Lee .... Mrs. Butts

    Novella Nelson .... Nellie Cole

    Danny Glover .... Marshall Peters

    Leo Burmester .... Emmett Spence

I was lucky enough to find a copy from Amazon for someone's Chrismas present and it was something ridiculous like £3.50.
