Eon, the Bond producers, have turned down Tarantino's offer. Brosnan is definately out and Hugh Jackman has turned it down.
I read somewhere that Quentin Tarrantino offered to make the next Bond, "Casino Royale" with Pierce! Does that not sound awesome??? Why would they turn this down? Does anyone know anymore on this?

I suspect it's because Eon prefers Bond films to be directed by competent craftsmen like Terence Young, Guy Hamilton, Lewis Gilbert and John Glen, not flashy auteurs who invariably get their name above the title and become the main attraction.

I think you have found the argument I was looking for there, Weatherby. However,I think they are more concerned at the moment about finding a replacement. I've offered, but I can never make out their reason for turning me down because of their howls of laughter down the phone .

I believe the casting director said something similar about the pervasive rumours that Robbie Williams was in the running - she was too professional to go down the "howls of laughter" route in public, but she made it very clear that she thought the idea was ridiculous.
