I love the Hornblower series on TV, but the most recent episodes entitled Hornblower and the bHotspur, I think, have never been released commercially (at least, not that I know of). I saw them on TV, but didn't record them.

I'd love a copy of these if anyone can help.

    regards,

Was there a TV programme titled Hornblower and the Hotspur?

The two TV movies Hornblower: Loyalty and Hornblower: Duty are both loosely based on storeys taken from Forester's book "Hornblower and the 'Hotspur'".

Those two TV movies are both available on DVD.

There are some boxed set collections of all the Ioan Gruffudd Hornblower programmes.

The episodes shown on ITV, but not as yet (so far as I know) released, relate to the married Hornblower engaging in action of the French coast; his indignant mother-in-law complaining the while that he thinks of glory ahead of prize money.

The ITV series is freely available on DVD. I believe you are talking of the episode titled "Duty" which is available on Play.com at £4.99. A snip as it includes delivery and cheaper than eBay.

    Dear Mike,

Thanks for the info - I have all the commercially released Hornblowers (sadly for a lot more than £4.99!), but I'm 85% sure that a couplke of episodes were shown which were not thought to be great, and which have never been released (that I know of).

    Many thanks all the same,

    WGB

Must say I'm slightly confused, I have all eight commercially released DVDs: -

    The Even Chance

    The Frogs & The Lobster

    The Examination for Lieutenant

    The Duchess and the Devil

    Mutiny

    Retribution

    The Duty

    Loyalty

Amazon seem to list The Duty and Loyalty as being two previously unrelease feature length episodes.

Duty, I believe is the episode you referred to early in which Hornblower marries his Landlay's daughter>
