I doubt whether anyone has had the opportunity to video this, as it hasn't been on television since BBC1 ran it on Monday, October 21st, 1974...thirty-five years ago...and the first and only time that it's ever been shown.

Yikes, thanks for the info even if it is not encouraging. Hopefully it may have been broadcast abroad, which has proved most useful in recent times.

Here is a 35mm CinemaScope frame from Mrs Gibbons Boys, with Lionel Jeffries and Peter Hempson, that I cut out at the Plaza way back in May, 1963, when it was shown as the lower half of a double-bill with Constantine The Great. I have stretched out the anamorphically squeezed image on Paintshop Pro.

Glad you like it, crunchie. I think there may be someone walking behind Peter Hempson as he comes through the doorway. I'm not sure, but it may have been Kathleen Harrison. I haven't seen the film for many decades, but I still recall one particular scene between Lionel Jeffries and Kathleen Harrison:

LIONEL: "And where are your boys now, Mrs Gibbons?"

KATHLEEN: "Well, I suppose you could say they're sort of working for the government."

And the next shot shows them sowing mail bags in prison.

I'm in full agreement, I'd love to see this film released on DVD/ Blu-ray...... I've read so much about it that I'm eager to see it. Can't beat abit of Lionel Jeffries and of course Dors.

It'll be forty years ago this October since it was last shown on television. Long overdue for a repeat showing, methinks.

It was a British Lion release so perhaps it is part of the bundle of films that Network DVD bought the rights to from Studio Canal.

I have assumed that Network DVD now have the rights to all the British Lion backlog ... but I don't know that as a fact.

Network are releasing His and Hers which, I think, was a 'lost' film... So there's hope yet. I didn't know a copy existed!
