When are they going to have one of those public television concert versions of Oliver where some opera singer plays Nancy and the singing is nice, but all wrong? Anyone remember that My Fair Lady?

Georgia Brown and Ron Moody did not get along to say the least during the stage run of Oliver! She blamed him for her not getting the role of Nancy in the film, which he denies.

What would Moody have to do with it? He wasn't an established film star who could make demands.

...but lovers of Oliver in the UK need only wait until this coming Sunday 27 March to enjoy yet again the splendour of this magnificent presentation for all to love..Channel 5 TV is by unanimous request of the Britmovie Forum making a special broadcast at 4.00 pm. Looks like the whole version, too!

Yes Jim, there are some good photographs on there, and like in the pic you just posted, it`s good to see the actors the way they were off screen too.

    I really like this photograph.

Not my idea of an east end kind of Nancy. She looked to clean and tidy for Bill Sykes, and you are right fasingirl, I for one, didn't get to the end.

Many thanks for that link Fagins Girl. I have the vinyl LP record and a number of the handbills featured. FTR (for the record) "Woman" magazine did a several-page colour feature on the making of "Oliver" in the week of its release in 1968. Maybe someone can track the edition down on e-bay maybe? Unfortunately the copy and many other items got separated from me during one the many house-moves I've had in my past 40-year work history.

One always breathes a sigh of relief when a production of this magnitude hits the ground running on its release date. Unfortunately 20th Century-Fox came a cropper in its musical fare for the previous Christmas opening. Dare I mention "Dr.Dolittle" ?

    Great clip Faginsgirl.
Ron Moody is a joy, playful, the odd but engaging touch of forgetfulness and hugely entertaining - a show stopper on or off the stage.
    A question, though.
In your post # 73 what are Bjorn Borg and Oliver Reed talking about?

    Jim W,
Great shots of Jack Wild, God bless him.

Not a fan of musicals at all, but certainly make an exception of this one!
