Saw this a while back. I had it on DVD+R, but for the life of me can't find it.

Anyway, I love this film simply for Alistair Sim's scenes. Where he's in the French club dancing, and and drinking, and when it they give him the bill, he sobers up, and in a classic line/expression, says: "What's this... the French national debt?"

    Classic scene. Not-so classic film.

Is it my imagination, or did this film cast both Alastair Sim and Margaret Rutherford and not give them a single scene together?

(If it did, it can't have been very memorable, which seems a tad implausible...)

It's not your imagination. It's a film that could have been a classic, but it's really just an oddity that's nice to watch, but you wish for so more. If Sim hadn't have been in it, I don't think I would have been able to sit through the whole thing. But saying that, it's one film that I won't forget, and I do think it will grow on me.

(And this is one black and white film that would have benefited from colour on-location filming. It would have looked stunning.)

(They might have met on the plane, or in the british customs, but I honestly can't remember.)
