The Man Between 1953. Directed by Carol Reed.

I recently found this in my very unorganised stash of DVDRs. It's been well over a year since I last saw it. This, in my eyes, is the most underrated of all British films. Carol Reed's The Man Between. 1953. An espionage thriller starring James Mason and Claire Bloom. Black and white. All shot on-location in East and West Berlin. Visually stunning. More jaunted angles than ten Third Man films put together. One of Carol Reed's finest films.

Have to agree on this one Quiller -- superb film. From the very real streets of war-torn Berlin to the excellent direction and acting, this one is a real gem. I can still picture the final scene now...and it's been a few years since I last saw it.

In case you are interested, another film set in Berlin in the immediate aftermath of WWII (and filmed at that time) is "Berlin Express" -- not bad but not a patch on "The Man Between" :)
