I don't have the entire show but do have an early 90's compilation show fronted by Dennis Norden , "Laughter by Royal Command" that has a clip of Billy Dainty playing Mr Pastry (I'm guessing that that is what you are after)

Drop me a line if you're interested.

    Thank you for your mail.

I also have the full dvd of these but the Billy Dainty clip is cut short. If anyone can help with the full variety show it would be great.

    Thanks again.

I have been looking for the same thing since I first saw the clip of Billy Dainty in Dennis Norden's "Laughter by Royal Command" programme. I haven't got a copy of that programme and was interested to hear mention of there being a DVD of it. Is it commercially available?

    Many thanks for any help.

On freeview just lately (ITV2 I think) there was a Best of Royal Variety Show.

Does anyone have a copy to trade?

This is from a series of compilation shows that are often repeated on ITV3. I haven't recorded any of them myself but I'm sure someone will have. Good luck.

I seem to remember Bruce Forsyth saying, with regret, that one show was never filmed.

If so, who was on the bill?

Did Al Martino appear at a Royal Variety?

His apparent paucity of UK televised performances, recorded or otherwise, is a puzzle.

He was such a popular, accomplished performer - and, of course, has iconic status for the first UK No.1.

Talking of Al Martino, I agree his UK TV performances seem rarer than hen's teeth, but I do have a complete Des O'Connor Show from 1970 where he's a guest:-

The Des O'Connor Show (ATV 1970) with guests Al Martino, Lonnie Donegan, Phylis Diller, Mireille Mathieu, Valerie Leon, Johnny Vyvian. Broadcast 18th July 1970.

Does anyone have anything else with Al from around this period?

Al Martino - he appears regularly o n German Sat TV. Doesn't seem to have changed much over the years.
