A 1984 TV series made in conjunction with the Fox Network, this was the swansong for Hammer, that great British horror institution. The 13 mini-thrillers that comprise the series reunited some of the studios 70s personnel and combined them with imported American stars for a run of dated but fun episodes laced with a little supernatural chill... Initially the series was seen as out of step with the studios usual output but the passage of time has been kind and the period-stylings make them feel almost like proper Hammer films. The films range from straight up crime thrillers to ghost yarns, including a great episode in which a man haunts his own past. As long as you can forgive the occasional wildly unrealistic plot development and almost surreal red herrings then you'll love these camp offerings.
