I know its a favourite here so can someone tell me or explain(if there is any) any significance to the clock .Is the bar across the front (for example)signify months, is it hours and minutes or am I reading too much into it?

    It's just a clock :

I don't think that anyone has ever managed to read any time by it or apply any significance to it. Although it is when the big hand reaches the top position that the alarms go off to indicate that Peter d. Carter is overdue.

    However ...

I was watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on TV last night, and I did wonder about the clock above the main entrance to Hogwarts.

Is it similar enough to be similar? :

Everytime I see AMOLAD and Bob looks at the clock I feel I have seen something similar before(or more likely after),its certainly not Harry Potter(never seen it),I did think it might be the clock in METROPOLIS but its not.Theres something about it and I dont know why It fascinates or intrigues me

A note: I like the big ruler across the front of the clock, as it echoes Marius Goring's gnomic utterance: "We are talking in space, not time." So naturally angels need a clock that measures space!

I cant recall that one but I have tried to think of where I could have seen some thing similar even to the extremes of the clock in the Harold lloyd film,Back to the Future and even The 39 Steps(I know its Big Ben)

I would guess its based on a astronomical clock(turning into a sad clock expert) as in the Harry Potter clock picture is , but I thought some production/scene designer at P&P studio may have based it on something or some film.

It reminds me of some kind of logo I have seen, though I can not remember what it is for. I imagine to be a German film coimpany logo or something.
