Is it McVicar?Haven't seen it in ages but Roger Daltrey was in it playing a right hard nut based on a true story, you'd probably remember it though.Just a stab in the dark.EEEEKKKK!![]()
Hi can anyone help, I'm looking for the name of a prison film that i watched about 15 years ago. It had a deed hard gangsta bloke who got arrested and sent to jail and was transferred from prison 2 prison because he was crazy and they couldn't handle him. He would fight with prison guards and was in confinement most of the time and ripped up padded cells, eventually they put him in a cush little place where he spent the rest of his jail term. Really good film but been trying to remember the name for about 8 years now (with no success).![]()

Steve
I would guess "A Sense of Freedom" 1984 (I think) with the excellent David Hayman as Scottish real life reformed hardman Jimmy Boyle
It wasn't McVicar, that was more about breaking out of prison good film though. I watched chopper a couple of weeks ago so not that one either. I've got a good feeling it was the one about Jimmy Boyle he was definately a scottish hard man but the title "A Sense of Freedom" doesn't ring any bells. I'll see if i can get hold of that film and check it out. Thanks A Pemberton and you other guys.
Possibly The Silent Scream (1990)
Full Cast and Crew for Silent Scream (1990)

Yes - I would definately say it was " A sense of freedom" - There were some memorable scenes where he managed to trash padded cells even when chucked in them in a straight jacket.
And the ending was as you described Jamman, where the authorities suddenly changed their attitude towards Boyle and he responded accordingly.
The original film was made for TV I believe and I recall that the Glasgow dialect could be pretty hard for a sassenach to comprehend. I have also heard that later version have been dubbed with less genuine "Glasgee" accents.
