    Hello,

does anyone know where I can get a DVD of "Goodbye Mr Chips" - the 1969 version with Peter O'toole ? I can't find it anywhere. I've seen VHS tapes for sale on eBay and Amazon, but not the DVD version.

    Hi Ian,

Send me a Personal Message if you'd like to trade for a good quality recording of this.

    Best wishes

    Hello All

Could anyone tell me why it is not possible to get the 1968 musical version of Goodbye Mr Chips with Peter O'Toole, Petula Clark, Michael Redgrave on DVD in this country? I live in Sherborne and as a totally fascinated 7 year old remember with great affection watching the shooting of the film around the town - Sherborne School was used for Brookfield School - my Dad was an avid home movie maker and took hours and hours of Super 8 on his Bolex, which is always interesting to watch!! It would be great to have the film in my collection. Does anyone know why it is not available? Thanks!

Doens't look like it but I would imagine it will be released eventually. It turns up on ITV occasionally. Multi-region players cost less than the price of a dvd boxset nowadays.

I have the Region 1 DVD of it and picture and sound quality are excellent and it's in its original 2.35:1 Panavision aspect ratio, anamorphically enhanced for 16 x 9 monitors and televisions. Here is a frame from the opening credits sequence showing Sherborne School.

I'm annoyed there's no R2 release. Yes, I could buy the R1 but still!

I have a region 3 version which plays on my finicky UK bought Sony player. Also an AVI which could be put on a region free disk.

I recorded it off ITV a while back. Still, I'd like them to show it again now I have a HDD recorder!
