Due to the lack of originality on british TV it could be....
Brookside
Hollyoaks
Family Affairs
I am trying to recall a TV drama series, from the 1980s I think. It was set on a new modern new town suburban housing estate. Not sure what channel it was on, but I seem to remember that beneath the surface, all was not as it seemed with the mainly young residents. A bit disturbing as I recall.
Please help, else I won't sleep tonight!

Could be Together (1980/1) set in a housing association block of flats called Rutherford Court.
Thanks for the replies, but no.
As I recall, this series was normal on the surface but had dark undertones.
I think the series you are thinking of starred Keith Barron and Annette Crosby. He was a machinist made redundant and became a mini cab driver. The series was called Take me Home.. He falls for a much younger girl who works in a building society i think... It was set in a new town like milton keynes or telford. It was a very very taught drama as i recall. But I can't remember her name tho sorry, rachel something maybe???![]()

IIRC the girl he had the affair with was Maggie O'Neill .... Rachel Stirling was in it, but, again IIRC, she played his daughter.
Bats.

that sounds right to me.... nice one.. just hope this is the programme pete was on about
Another 'Who's Online' discovery ...
While on one hand I'm giving this a 'Bump' in the hope that someone might have the right answer (I don't think it's Take Me Home), I'm also curious to know who the original poster's avatar is. The title of the image is the unhelpful 'alinhat (Al in hat)'. But Al who? Certainly not Al Bowlly. Any ideas? Sad that both he and Ace of Wands seem to have left us.
Could the show be The Kids From 47A?
name='wadsy']It's Arthur Lucan isn't it ?
Amazing! It turns out you're right - not Al but the initials AL. I found the photo at Google Images and that led me to the following link:
Arthur Lucan (1887 - 1954) - Find A Grave Memorial
Many thanks for solving this ten-minute-long mystery!
I think the one you mean is Nice Town, by Guy Hibbert.
