I remember a film I believe was set in Scotland. Made around 1950, give or take a few years. The scenes I remember involve two clans. At one point they engage in some sort of verbal sparring match where they hurl curses at each other.
The signature scene involves their unique form of capital punishment. A person is tied up and made to stand in the middle of a pond. They tie a fish to the man's head. When some sort of sea bird dives down to spear the fish with its beak, the person is killed.
At the beginning of the film, I believe someone is unjustly punished in this way for a murder committed by someone else. At the end of the film, the true murderer is punished in the same way.
I can't for the life of me remember this film's name.
And Tippi Hedren complains about Hitch's throwing birds at her! "It coulda been worse, blondie..."
