    Hello there!

I've arrived as the result of searching for something specific.

I help out a bit with screenings at our village hall, though my influence over what gets screened is minimal.

    Hi all.

I am an AV Artist and I "sample" video/film for the purpose of creating Audio and visual art (this is known as "Video sampling") it's a fairly new use of "film/video" media and within it new ideas are being developed constantly, you may find some of them interesting, I personally like video mapping and also the use of "music concrete" in film scorring, which is now becomming more widley used by directors like Timur Bekmambetov, some examples bellow.

Video mapping > AntiVJ & Crea Composite: Nuit Blanche Bruxelles on Vimeo

Video sampling > 1999 dDmbaM scene 3: Knights attack

I'd like to ask if you have any personal favorite scenes from films that you think might make interesting source footage for an AV composition, eboman (above) has sampled two films: "Les visiteurs" & "Duel" these work well because they have interesting percussive sounds and very striking visual content, I'm currently creating a video composition based around the chase scene on Tottenham court road tube station used in the film American werewolf in london..

Hope this isn't too odd a request, and hi to everyone

    Regards

    coda.

    Hullo All,

Have enjoyed variety of British movies for many years, now I have kids I am looking to introduce some odd ball scifi and psychological thrillers as they are getting to that age they can appreciate the complex state we humans are in and old enough to articulate impressions

and I see scifi as opportunity to explore diverse paradigms..

By far I find the depth of British films to be superior than other english speaking ones but all countries have their specialisations and strengths. Also looking to revisit some earlier comedies but at this time I've forgotten some of the titles and will probably need help getting reacquainted since I used to live in the UK until 1969.

Looking forward to seeing what other movies there were as I am sure there are many that I know I dont know anything about, I was never any sort of afficionado but might be getting that way as work situations change, so much to explore here it seems, thankyou

    Regards

    Mike

Hello. I found this website when looking for location shots used in Night of the Demon - a film I hadn't seen for years and years -and could only remember a piece of erratic paper; a clunky steamtrain; a scientific looking guy and a plassy demon...but also being captivated.

When looking at the forum topics, I came across the one discussing the pay for Carry-On actors, and it made me laugh, especially when being reminded that the 'Khyber' one was filmed in my homeland of Wales. Hence, I just had to join.

    Why thank you, kind sir.

Thank you. Going to get the original story, written by Victorian ghostwriter MR James, and have a good old read.

Rutherford-by sheer chance i was looking up a location list in old-fashioned archive land (a public library) regarding other films and it might be of interest that the railway line used was that between St.Alban's and Watford with Bricket Wood station being the bricks and mortar.

    Spooky eh?

...I used to study there and wasn't aware of it at all - umm, I mean that the film was shot near there - I was often aware that I was actually studying there. Thanks form info.
