I did see Parkinson briefly interviewed after he's announced his 'retirement' (incidentally, how long do we think it will be before he's back on the box ?) when he hinted that there must be some 'commercial value' in all the shows he'd done, so expect the deluge at some point - after all, now he's been knighted he has to live in the style to which we'd all like to become accustomed.

I wonder if it's a "rights issue" ? Most of the desired interviews would be with some pretty heavy hitters and they've probably got "more lawyers than mirrors on a mods scooter" (copyright billy bentley) !

Don't know Dave, all I remember is Ali finishing up with something along the lines of "I really did enjoy your show, But I can't come back 'cos your pays too low"!

My mum taped these and many more for me in the 1990s repeats. Precious stuff.

My dream is for all the classic (mainly 1970s) interviews to be transcribed and published in a 'coffee table' style book

David I have a book titled "Parkinson" which touts itself as "selected interviews from the television series". Published by Elm Tree Books Hamish Hamilton 1975. It contains 28 interviews. I have no idea if they are complete transcripts.

Just looked up a new/used book site (bookfinder.com) and see there was also a book published in 1983 "Parkinson: The Most Memorable Interviews".
