And she's essentially retired now, although she is sometimes enticed out for interesting projects or for interviews. The last film she made was Superstar (1999)

Known this side of the pond as 49th Parallel...out on DVD from Criterion, in a very fine edition. The Criterion Collection: 49th Parallel
She was married to Anthony Forwood, had a son called Gareth (who appeared in Ghandi).
Played Mary Tudor in Disney's 'Sword and the Rose.'
What a sexy husky voice!!

Liked her in the SUNDOWNERS with Robert Mitchum and deb. kerr.
name='Blondel']What a sexy husky voice!!
I have only seen her once on stage; in the 70s on Broadway in "A Little Night Music" She and Hermione Gingold were superb. Talk about husky voices!
Miranda was a film I had remembered from my childhood, and about three years ago I happened on a rather poor copy, but it did stand up and evoked many Saturday afternoons spent in a stuffy small cinema in Yorkshire.
"From Kensington to Billingsgate, one hears the restless cry,
from every corner of the land, Womankind arise !"
That great voice of hers, husky verging on croaky.
Vaggmk1938 - where abouts in Yorkshire was that stuffy cinema ?
Ady
I saw her last night in the Card, superb film superb performance and what a voice!!![]()
Yes I love her in that film
Of course she is best known, I'd say, for her role in Mary Poppins. I wonder how Glynis is these days?
Mainly retired, she is 84 after all. But still occasionally works on projects that interest her. She appeared as a grandmother in Superstar (1999) and was on stage in London in 2002.name='Brief Encounter']Yes I love her in that film

I think she mainly lives in Australia now.

I saw this when I was 11 and it became my favorite show. It still is...and I'm 45 now. Ms. Johns was brilliant, and I'll never forget her it in.
