The BFI release includes all those "continental" scenes including the intro.

Hi all many thanks for your excellent replies I will order the BFI dvd but not the Zavi blue ray as I have no player for this
and then I will be able to look at all those wonderful scenes again.
I am trying to collect all the films made in Brighton as I lived there in the 50s/60s/70s I would love the Hundred Pound Window which was missing but I now believe the BFI have a 16mm copy but weather they will ever release it is another matter

IIRC, the BFI dvds are dual-format and you get dvd/blu-ray on one disk.

Sorry, ignore. They're dual-format now but Man of Violence came in two flavours.

Actually, this release will be dual-format later this year - the BFI is selling off its old separate Blu-ray and DVD editions prior to the reissue of this and (I think) most of their other Blu-ray only releases.

Which means that there may well be bargains to be had right now if you're sure of which format you want.
