I'm not exactly sure why it's taking place although obviously it'll raise a few bob for charidee, but what an awful show. No atmosphere and having dipped in and caught 2 hip-hop acts and then a piece of ballet, I'm half expecting Iron Maiden next to segue into St Winifreds School Choir.

Oh good, it's Status Quo coming up.

I couldn't agree more. I've dipped in and out a few times this afternoon .... dreadful stuff.

You missed Joss Stone singing Queen/Bowie's Under Pressure....

(yes, it was as bad as you imagined)

Not much respite either, next Saturday is the Live Earth concert on BBC1

I'm not missing it at all, I'm just not watching it (or listening to it). But I certainly don't miss it

It's the wrong environment for that sort of music anyway. People aren't used to hearing it outside the elevator

After managing to avoid most of that pillock from Supertramp being all 'logical' I stumbled onto Fearne Cotton (I could probably cope with that under different circumstances) talking to Dennis Hopper about how marvellous Rod Stewart's new CD is .... this was followed by the lovely Gillian Anderson introducing Sir Tom Jones who is currently warbling away. Strange? No, 'tis ten times strange ..... as The Bard once wrote.

Have given up now .... Joss Stone and Sir Tom .... zzzzzz.

The Boy Wonder is back from his Grandma's and Captain Scarlet is a better option.

Blissfully ignorant (in a non-viewing way) of Diana concert and Live Earth next weekend. I have far better things to do (stabbing myself repeatedly with a blunt knitting needle)

Did he make an appearance? Strange really as it's something he would have once sent up; certainly back in the 11 O'Clock Show days.

Then again, maybe we're all too cynical, or as Rev Lovejoy quipped in The Simpsons: "I just stopped caring, fortunately by then it was the 80s and no one noticed!"

I had to laugh when Prince William had to read a cue card to remember that Duran Duran had been his mother's favourite band.

It was also amazing that Ricky Gervais was incapable of ad libbing for five minutes. Bob Monkhouse would have reeled off a dozen jokes!

Yes he was, just before the last act, Elton John who looked like an overweight penguin to me.

Did he do anything on the 11 O'Clock show? The IMDb only lists him in an unknown role in one unknown episode. He's usually very good at self publicity (about the only thing he is good at IMHO)

Yeah, he would turn up for the last 10 minutes and normally do a sarky take on recent news stories.
