OK, I'm thinking of getting 'Blood on Satan's Claw' on DVD. I've never seen the movie (or don't remember having done so) but I seem to remember having heard good things about it... so I thought I'd put it to the vote - lol

Who says I should get it and why...

Being a music bod, I think you'd probably like it just for the haunting opening theme Aaryk, played over some nicely done credits. Must say that I love it - and a nice juxtaposition with the genre, I always thought. (Marc Wilkinson, composer IIRC).

The film itself is recommended as it's somewhat close to that WITCHFINDER GENERAL feel, and certainly has a particular atmosphere. Also, it boasts the presence of the late, great Patrick Wymark; always worth watching.

I always thought this one had an unusual slant, at a time when most of the competition were happy to regurgitate the Hammer Horror format. I'd go for it if I were you...

I'd second that - destinctive from Hammer's output though classic British horror nevertheless. You must be able to get if for a fiver somewhere - that's not too much of a gamble!!!

By complete coincidence I mentioned this in the Best British Horror Movies thread yesterday - always been a fan of it. Some interesting faces in the cast ( including if memory serves a young Geoffrey 'Eddie Yates' Hughes ) and a nice brooding atmosphere and it looks good even though it was obviously done on a low budget.

to be fair gvs did it shot by shot because he was contracted by the studio and wanted to show how pointless a remake was. Anyway, blood on sd... Linda hayden's best performance but nothing special in my book, i think there's an unnecessary rape scene too. So a no from me!

I have the offical DVD myself. You just want to see more of Linda Hayden, don't you? I don't blame you! As far as I'm aware the DVD contains all of the film. If there is another version out there, then like yourself, I want it!

I bought this a couple of years ago and can truly state that it is excellent. I wasn't aware of it being the uncut version, as it apparently is, so I can't compare it with the Tigon box set version. Suffice to note, as someone slightly more erudite than I put it, 'It is so realistic that it actually looks as if it was filmed in the 1600's'.

Get it at all costs (well at 12.99 at any rate).

its funny how a few horror films of the late 60s /early 70s looked authentic in a what you would imagine to be 1600 s way ,witchfinder general being another obvious one
