The B-side of Neil Diamonds "I am I Said" Done Too Soon

I always thought the song from 1:38 could and maybe should have been a separate song in its own right

I remember sometime in the late 70's someone pointed out to me a track on the B-side of a James Brown Single' not sure which one' but the Similarities to David Bowies Fame are immediately recognisable' The song is centred around a Carlos Alomar guitar riff

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Vn--qcqxXI

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-_30HA7rec

Both tracks were Released in 1975

Carlos Alomar was asked about the Striking similarities

It was my riff. That was all me getting all funky and stuff. David wasn't into that. First of all, because I'm a New York musician, I knew the musicians that played on the session ... They said he (James Brown) actually played the damn record in front of them. It was surprising to see David Bowie's reaction because he had great respect for James Brown as did I.

So Bowie said `Let's see what kind of activity it gets. If it charts and does real good, then we'll sue him.' Come to find out, that record didn't do anything. Still, it was real flattering for David to have had James Brown steal from him.

Thanks Jim, I've always liked that Neil Diamond song......
Another B side that really could have made the A was this one from The Mamas & the Papas from 1966....
A side was "I Saw her Again", and this great B side was called "Even if I could"...
    Enjoy

    Jim,
From what I have read and seen on the odd interview Baker is an insufferable grouch, with a bitterness that lemon can only dream of. He would start a row with himself!

Roy Harper (No I'm not him) released a trio of singles in the mid/late 60's that all flopped & are now quite rare. The 1968 single "Life Goes By" had a brilliant B side called "You Don't Need Money" which is liberally sprinkled with his whimsical wacky lyrics of the period.....
It comes from side 1 of the previous years album "Come out Fighting Ghengis Smith"....
    Enjoy

Nice one sarge. Kippington Lodge as you no doubt know changed their name to Brinsley Schwarz, although Nick Lowe and the other Brinsleys except Mr.Schwarz himself didn't appear on Shy Boy.

I worked with a bloke in the late 80s and he insisted he never listened to anything but Hawkwind and he was'nt keen on their later stuff either!
