Any help in obtaining copies of these two series would be much appreciated.

They were screened on Bravo (what a good channel that used to be) some years back. I actually recorded many of them at the time but lost most of the episodes during a now regretted clearing of tapes. Currently I have four episodes from each series. Lots to trade with.

    With thanks

Not sure if any use to you but I noticed on eBay yesterday that someone was selling around 35 episodes of Saber in London on DVD. I imagine they are recordings from Bravo going by what is says on the listing.

I've now acquired the Saber/Man from Interpol offerings from raretv and feel that I should let anyone else interested in acquiring the same know of what they'll be getting just to avoid any possible disappointment.

    M f I has 5 episodes plus a trailer - there were 39 episodes made.

Vol 1 of Saber contains 3 episodes plus one of Dragnet?

Vols 2 and 3 contain 4 episodes each.

Saber of London episodes ran into 3 figures and whilst one dosn't expect the lot for a total of 20 odd this may be a little on the sparse side. Their online catalogue does not mention how many episodes or what titles are listed so one takes a chance. As for that episode of Dragnet. Picture quality isn't too bad but I have to say I'll be giving them a miss in future.

I'm sorry to hear about this as I gave you thier web page. In the past I'v brought a number of TV series from them like COLDITZ, SPENDER, THE FORTH ARM and TARGET. The first 3 were OK and only the second series of TARGET was a bit iffy as Marker will agree.

    Hi there,

RareTVUK was taken over again approx six months ago, before then I supplied them with quite a number of shows for their catalogue, especially older stuff, now prices on the site seem to have risen to ridiculous amounts on some sets and they also charge postage.

Where the owners before were themselves dedicated TV show collectors and traders it now seems it is more like a business venture I'm afraid.

    Best wishes,

    The Doc.

I agree with doc when this site was taken over it went to the wall and I dont think I would buy anything off them again, (I had bought in the past) if you want this sort of stuff and cant get it anywhere else try this site

    Media Classics

whether or not these are bootlegs and the chap has copyright from Kruger or not has been the subject of other threads on here so we dont need to go down that road again.

I have bought quite a lot of this site in the past and you get what it says on the tin most are recordings from bravo but watchable I am now considering buying The Man From Interpol 20 for twenty episodes if I cant get them by trading, what I am saying is if you are stuck it is worth a look and no I have no connection with the site

    I agree completely!

It has been taken over by

ansgarfilm . rare films, tv, music and games . (Powered by CubeCart) because that is the name which appears on the bank statement when payment is made to them.

The only good thing is that whereas RareTVUK appears almost uncontactable

( no returns address, no telephone number, untraceable email account) ansgar has a contact address (Suffolk) on the website

Not a problem Hackett, it was worth a go and thanks Marker for the other site reference which I'll take a look at. Apparantly there were over 200 episodes of Saber made which isn't a bad run by any standards, wonder if Bravo had the complete series?

If they hide behind an anonymous registrar and provide no genuine UK contact details then chances are some will be ripped-off and have no right to a refund.

Btw, how can raretv be 'taken over' when they have no rights to the catalogue?

Interesting point - trade in 'bootlegs' is not 'trade' by definition, but criminality, so the seller can never be a trading entity (in law) to be 'taken over'.

Mi dispiace! I was adopting the same usage as Doc - but perhaps I should say that they have assumed another 'business' identity in order to maintain and promote the rip-off machine.

    Doc here,

Dave who originally started the RareUK TV site had an extensive collection of TV shows which he catalogued and put on the website, he sold this extensive collection of shows to a chap called Otis around the middle of 2006 who then went on to keep the website going, although i don't think he had a great knowledge of TV shows and was forever shutting the site down for days on end, he in turn around the beginning of 2007 sold the collection to the current owner, james, who i think many will agree the site is now more like a business TV show selling site than a collector /trading site. Hope this helps DB (LOL)

Although i agree 90% with smudge.

If it's something i'm looking for as a TV show collector i don't mind buying it.

You have to remember that people in this forum sell "bootlegs" when members ask for a certain programme and haven't got anything to trade. i don't want o get into this again but i've stated in the past i know at least 5 people in this Forum who charge 10 a disc, 30 a disc and even 60 for 1 show, because of the rarity. Which is ridiculous. I know you have expenses , time, postage , sundries etc, etc.

But thats upto those particular individuals and other members who want to trade with them What annoys me more is, this week, I have replied to two members stating i have the shows they are after, they send me there listing, so i can choose something in return but they still ask how much i'd sell the discs for and when i say I'd rather trade than sell, they change their mind. Looks like you can't win either way!

I was looking at it purely as a legal and technical concept - that of the 'trading' entity. I agree that 'bootlegs' are a fact of life, if you ever want to see particular films again.

As you say you pays your money (or makes your trade) and takes your choice. I'm just glad my policy from years ago was just 'record everything' - so few unusual B&W films are shown these days. If I hadn't done all that recording EBay would be costing me a small fortune by now...

Speaking of which I was once asked to chip into a pot for several hundred quids which had been asked for a single TV episode....
