After reading a post of someone persistently stating that films had not arrived I felt that I should share my experience.

I buy films from HMV, Play.com, Amazon and also rent dvd from WH Smith. Over the last 18 months, some items I ordered never arrived which I duly reported and was sent replacements.

I recently had a couple of items from a member of this group but they failed to arrive and when I contacted the member they sent me replacements.

My concern is that I do not wish to be branded as a bad member should I not receive anything from members of BritMovie. I know it has only happened once to me with someone from this group.

    Thanks

    Howse

I have had this problem too over the past weeks. Mrs Bat and I have both not received parcels and small packages on several occasions. Retail sellers are usually good about this and ebay sellers have been pretty good too. The local postman acknowldges this a problem nationwide and says that, in our area alone, at least four different courier services are sub-contracted to do deliveries on a regular basis. A case of too many cooks ... he says.

I have had a couple of problems with stuff being send between me and other members but these have all been sorted out in a friendly way. I am sure you will find it the same.

Even Marketplace sellers on Amazon are reliable about replacing non received items. And faulty items too.

The postal service has got rubbish to say the least. I have had more problems over the past few weeks more so than ever before, i have reported parcels on several occations to the PO and they are so slow in responding to any thing, i also need things through the post for my job and it has been a complete nightmare for some reason.

Have you noticed that missing post levels has risen in correlation with positive discrimination? Kleptomania is much more common in woman than it is in man so it makes you wonder...

Thankfully it made it, only took them 6 days to deliver it a few miles across Hampshire

Positive descrimination based on race or gender is not legal in the UK so therefore there would have to be no rise in missing post levels. I would not miss your posts.

Yes, but both positive and negative happen all the time... businesses are well practiced at running rings around legalities.

I think the trouble with the Postal service is more to do with the employment of Temp staff, reduced staffing levels and a run down of the level of respect for people's property in the service itself.

This is true of society in general - not just within the Royal Mail.

I would say that in the ten years I have lived at my present address, the postal service has declined by some 50%but of course I have to pay more in order to receive this reduced service, I am in a cynical mood tonight

Yet again i have to ring the PO tomorrow as i never received 3 parcels that were sent over 2 weeks ago, so its really getting annoying they should be paying my phone bill as i ring them more than anyone else to find out where my post has gone.

I always order my DVD`s from Play.com or HMV.com (whichever happens to be cheepest) and I must say that I have never had any problems with either of them (apart from a couple of `rattlers` which have been immediately replaced, no questions asked!). I do however have a big problem with the P.O. - the latest of course being the current strike - I have four DVD`s held up somewhere. I just know that there will be a problem with me recieving them..............I know it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me too, im waiting on DVD's that i ordered 3 weeks ago and still no sign i got some post this morning after another annoying walkout from the PO but i wish they would resolve it and QUICK. Their postal service is rubbish without adding to it. I use a courrier service's now if i need to send things out to patient's as its the only way i can gaurantee delivery but it works out a lot more expensive.

Quite frankly it is not worth ordering anything that has to be delivered by post at the present time.I used to have an office in North London.I so dispaired of receiving post before lunchtime that i arranged to collect the post from the sorting office on my way into the office each morning.

I've heard... though it could be rubbish and its third hand anyway... that part of the modernisation the PO wants to introduce is that Postmen only know on each Saturday whether or not they'll be working each next week since they'll be having contracts without specified hours. If that is the case (and I can't see how it would hope to be worked... so I wonder about the accuracy of my sources source)... then all Postmen would be treated like temps which would only reduce the poor level of service we consumers already receive even further - pride in their work being completely irradicated.

One thing that is accurate is that from at least the 1980's... the PO treats its staff like rubbish.

Please know that I am not in favour of the strikes... but I know that in the past the Post Office management themselves have placed Postmen into positions where they had no choice but to strike. In the 1980s management even punished the Postmen in my office who did not go out on strike (because a closed office is cheaper than one which has most of its postmen on strike). I was one of the Postmen who didn't go on strike that day... I was kicked by my collegues who were on strike... and made to work overtime for no money whatsoever by the management as punishment under threat of the sack (they knew the Union would not protect us).

Unfortunately what you say (about short notice) is workable - some sectors (i.e. Agriculture) only know the evening before if agency labour is needed the next day. The mobile 'phone makes these systems even more workable nowadays.

They should hire schoolboys to deliver them like they do with newspapers. They could be paid 10% of stamp price on all their deliveries. That way they would have to get them out before they go to school so we would all get our mail early.
