You can play DVDs from any region in a PC or laptop. It's only the brain-dead media viewers like Micro$oft's one that pay any attention to them and try to lock you into a particular region.

The good viewers, like VLC don't bother with any such nonsense. VLC is free and it helps to break the Micro$oft monopoly

Thems off my want list that I put in the vote the other day.

From R1 land let me add to this by saying I have just received (from Amazon.com) a 2 disc set "Renown Pictures presents British Cinema Crime and Noir".

    6 movies in super condition:

    Blackout (1950)

    Bond of Fear (1956)

    Home to Danger (1951)

    Meet Mr. Callaghan (1954)

    No Trace (1950)

    Recoil (1953)

Not a cinematic masterpiece among them, but first rate entertainment and I hope they keep on doing it.

    Thanks Renown!

Any set with a Maxwell Reed film in it has got to be worth having.

Steve Crook, I notice they have an early Michael Powell film...

I have emailed Renown about several films I want - those starring Petula Clark, Chili Bouchier and Margaret Lockwood

And, of course, Gert and Daisy! Would love to see It's in the Bag!

Brief Encounter - great I will also request films starring Petula Clark (77 now you know) and the great Miss Lockwood. There are five Petula Clark films I have never managed to see!

I expect he still works this library (but is probably confined to book filing in the basement by now....)
