can anybody remember a tv play about three men who take redundancy and purchase a wreck of a canal boat the person who sold it to them then supplies brushes and paint and advises them how to go about renovating this old boat
but keeps on charging them over the odds for all he supplies I seem to remember that they borrow a saw which they damage after some time they set sail and wreck the boat, after a few hundred yards they collide with a low bridge and sink

Sounds like the Play for Today: Shakespeare or Bust with Ray Mort, Brian Glover and Douglas Livingstone as Art, Ern and Abe. This Peter Terson trilogy also included The Fishing Party and Three for the Fancy.
