Nationwide once showed the effects of sabotage on railways.

it showed the impact of what happens if you throw stones or walk on the track.

    the cast was mainly children.

I hope someone could give me a title or whether it was released on dvd, it was quite shocking seeing this as a young boy

I think it was broadcast between 1975 and 1979 on the BBc nationwide programme.

    Ah Public Safety films

YouTube - Apaches - Horrific UK Public Information Film - Part 1

YouTube - Scary 1970s British Public Information Films

We were subjected to them on the school's projector.

I remember the one called Building Sites Bite with its hapless hero being killed bloodily over and over again.

I'm afraid these films failed on me as I couldn't wait to rush over to the nearest building site (where I died bloodily).

    Hi leedel

The film shown on Nationwide was called The Finishing Line - it was made by British Transport Films about 1976 with the intention of it being shown at schools to warn children about the dangers of playing on the track. It was quite controversial at the time, with many schools rejecting it thinking it was too gory, and this was what made Nationwide show it with a live debate afterwards with some schoolkids in the studio. IIRC at least one very green looking kid had to leave the group helped by Bob Wellings!

As far as I know it hasn't had any DVD release but with the bfi releasing some BTF compilations it might crop up in thr future.
